We collect the least we can to run our courses and conferences. This policy explains what that is in plain terms.
1. What we collect
When you create an account: your name, email address and password. Your password is stored only as a cryptographic hash, so nobody at CLRS can read it.
When you complete your profile: your designation and institution. We print these on your certificate, so they are worth getting right.
When you enrol or pay: a record of the course, the amount, and the payment reference returned by our payment provider. We never see or store your card details. Those go directly to the payment provider.
When you register for a conference: your name, email, contact number and designation and institution. If you submit a paper, we also hold your abstract, the manuscript you upload, and the same details for a second author where you give them.
As you study: which lessons you have completed, your examination answers and results, and any private notes you write against a lesson.
2. Why we hold it
To give you access to what you paid for, to mark your work and issue a certificate that can be verified, to answer you when you contact us, and to send you the emails described below. We keep payment records because tax and accounting rules require it.
3. Emails we send
We send transactional email: a welcome message, enrolment confirmations, payment receipts, examination results, certificates, conference confirmations and joining links, and reminders before a live session. These are part of the service and are not marketing.
We use WhatsApp for conference updates where you have given us a number, because delegates read it. If you would rather we used email only, tell us and we will.
4. Who else sees it
Our payment provider, to take payment. Our email provider, to deliver the messages above. Our hosting provider, which stores the database. Where a conference is co-hosted with another institution, we share the delegate list for that conference with that institution so they can run the event.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising.
5. Public information
Your name appears publicly only where you would expect it: on a certificate you choose to share, on a course review you choose to write, and in a lesson question or answer you post, which other enrolled learners can see. Your private lesson notes are visible only to you. Certificate verification confirms a name, a course and a date to anyone holding the certificate ID, which is the point of it.
6. How long we keep it
Account and learning records are kept while your account exists, so your certificate stays verifiable. Payment records are kept as long as tax rules require. Conference records are kept so that a certificate of participation or presentation remains verifiable. Ask us to close your account and we will delete what we are not required to keep.
7. Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct anything wrong, ask us to delete your account, or object to a particular use. Write to contact@academyclrs.org and we will respond within thirty days. You can change your name, designation and institution yourself at any time in your settings.
8. Cookies
We set a session cookie so you stay logged in, and a security token to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. If you arrive through a referral link we set a cookie recording that referral for thirty days. We do not use advertising cookies.
9. Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords are hashed. Access to the administration panel is restricted to staff accounts. No system is perfectly secure, and if a breach ever affects your data we will tell you and the relevant authority promptly.
10. Children
Our courses are aimed at law students and practitioners. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has registered, tell us and we will remove the account.
11. Changes
If this policy changes materially we will say so on the site and, where it affects you directly, by email.
