Our courses are digital and open the moment you pay, so this policy sets out clearly when a refund is available and when it is not.
1. Courses: the first seven days
If a course is not what you expected, write to us within seven days of enrolling and we will refund it in full, provided you have completed no more than 20% of its lessons and have not attempted the final examination.
Beyond seven days, or once you have gone past a fifth of the course or sat the examination, we cannot refund it. The material is available in full from the moment you enrol, and free preview lessons on every course page let you read the real content before paying.
2. Courses: when we refund regardless
You get a full refund, whenever you ask, if:
- we cancel or retire the course before you were able to complete it;
- you were charged twice for the same course;
- a technical fault on our side prevented access and we could not fix it within a reasonable time.
3. Bundles
A bundle is refundable on the same terms as a single course, measured across the bundle as a whole. Once you have passed the 20% mark in any course within it, or sat any examination in it, the bundle is no longer refundable. We do not refund part of a bundle.
4. Conference registration
Delegate registration is refundable in full up to seven days before the conference date. Inside seven days it is not refundable, because the programme, materials and certificates are prepared on confirmed numbers. If you cannot attend, tell us and we will send you the recording and materials where the format allows.
If CLRS postpones a conference, your registration carries to the new date, or you may ask for a full refund instead. If CLRS cancels a conference outright, every registration is refunded in full.
5. Presenter registration
A presenter fee is refundable in full if your paper is withdrawn more than seven days before the conference. It is not refundable after that, or once the paper has been presented, since the review and scheduling work is already done.
A rejected abstract carries no fee, so there is nothing to refund. Where the full paper is later not accepted for publication, the presenter fee is still not refundable: it covers presenting, not publication.
6. Journal submissions
The CLRS Journal of Global Justice and Governance is diamond open access. There is no submission fee and no publication fee, so no refund can arise.
7. How to ask
Email contact@academyclrs.org from the address on your account, with the course or conference name and the payment reference from your receipt. For conferences you may also write to conference@academyclrs.org.
You do not need to give a reason, though telling us what went wrong helps us fix it.
8. How long it takes
We decide within five working days and tell you either way. An approved refund is sent back to the original payment method, and typically reaches you within seven to ten working days after that, depending on your bank. We cannot refund to a different card or account.
9. Coupons and referrals
Where a coupon reduced the price, we refund the amount actually paid, not the list price. Where a purchase generated a referral commission, that commission is reversed with the refund.
10. Access after a refund
When a refund is issued, enrolment ends and access to the course, its materials and any certificate is withdrawn. A certificate already issued for a refunded course ceases to be valid and will fail verification.
11. Disagreements
If you think a decision is wrong, reply to us and ask for it to be looked at again. We would much rather settle it directly than have you raise a dispute with your bank.
